DESCRIPTION
SANDSTONE & GLASS
Wagstagge Twins are two houses set in one sloping site overlooking Brisbane Water. The houses are located one at the front lower part of the site and one on the upper higher area.
Both houses are based on the same concept, an enclosed heavy volume that hosts the house services and an open, light and airy environment that shapes the living areas of the dwelling. Sandstone and Glass.
Though both houses are based on the same concept, their formalization is different due to its location on the site.
The lower house presents an L shape sandstone volume made of a podium and a rear services wall, with a glass box sitting in front of it on the podium.
The upper house presents a central sandstone core, like a tree trunk, with the living areas located around it. The top floors of this house cantiliver over the ground floor, supported by the core, to maximise its openness.
Each house has 4 bedrooms, 3 living areas and generous open space. All living spaces have ocean views.
